The SIGG water bottle with the smiling face of Tucker, the Sensible Dog.

The SIGG water bottle has long been know in the outdoor world.  It has a nearly 100 year heritage. They are produced from a single component that is seamless and has no comparable weak points.  They are considered to be “ virtually unbreakable.”  However, it is the  inside of SIGG bottles that make them so special.   “Due to SIGG's special, proprietary internal coating, these high-tech bottles are resistant to fruit juice acids, energy drinks, alcohol and virtually any consumable beverage. Because the liners are taste and scent neutral, you can enjoy any beverage you'd like ”.
There has been a lot of concern recently about the fact that the bottles are aluminum.  The SIGG website answers this concern: “SIGG bottles have a non-toxic, protective liner that has been thoroughly tested both in Europe and in the USA to ensure against leaching – so no aluminum will seep into your beverage.”  
In 2008, there was a lot of press concerning plastic water bottles leaching harmful chemicals into the container's ingredients.   SIGG CEO  Steve Wasik has made the statement, “Very thorough migration testing in laboratories around the world is conducted regularly and has consistently shown SIGG aluminum bottles to have no presence of lead, phthalates, Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA), Bysphenol A (BPA), Bysphenol B (BPB) or any other chemicals which scientists have deemed as potentially harmful.”

How to clean you SIGG water bottle:
     For best results, do not leave water or any other liquid in your SIGG for longer than 24 hours. Thoroughly rinse out the bottle each night and allow to air dry. To remove mineral deposits, you can soak your SIGG Bottle overnight with warm water and 1 TBSP of baking soda or a mixture of baking soda and Distilled White vinegar (this type ONLY). You  can also purchase a SIGG cleaning brush or SIGG Bottle Clean cleaning tablets. (Due to the narrow mouth of the bottle, dishwashers may not clean adequately.  Some dishwashers may damage the design.  So, if you don’t want to losse Tucker’s sweet face, avoid the dishwasher.)


Our experience:
At first it seemed that the SIGG bottle was heavier than a plastic bottle.  I weighed both with the same amount of water and they are exactly the same.  I guess I was using a smaller plastic bottle.  This SIGG does hold 1 liter. 
It is sturdy.  It has fallen out of the car, and suffered only the tiniest dent on the outside.  (Nothing on the inside.)
I only put water in it, so I can’t talk about how it works with other beverages. It never alters the taste of the water.
I bought the sports top from SIGG.  I spill it n me and Tucker would rather drink out of a bowl than learn to drink the drip when I squeeze it.
The best part for me - of course - is Tucker’s sweet face!!!!
