The Ruff Wear Float Coats.
Ruff Wear introduced two new Float Coats with their latest catalog: the portage float coat, the recreational life jacket; and the big eddy float coat, the top-of-the-line canine life jacket, for the aggressive canine swimmer.
The Portage Float Coat provides safety for your water-loving canine companion and peace of mind for you in and around the water. Ideal for recreational use, the Portage is a high-quality flotation jacket at an excellent value. Great for calm water activities, or for dogs who are less buoyant and/or new to the water. One of the biggest advantages of a Ruff Wear Float Coat: strategically placed PVC-free buoyancy cells that support dogs in a natural horizontal swimming position, allowing them to go farther, longer, with less fatigue.
The features include: generous anatomical cut for ease of swimming and mobility; wide size range fits dogs of all shapes and sizes; reflective trim for enhanced visibility; low-profile assistance handle makes it easy to lift dogs out of the water.
Intended Uses: canoeing, recreational paddling, lake swimming, and sailing.
The Big Eddy Float Coat is the ultimate in canine flotation and water safety. Ideal for active canines who frequent the water, it is designed for aggressive swimmers in rough or fast-moving water, day or night. The Big Eddy is our premium, fully featured canine lifejacket. One of the biggest advantages of a Ruff Wear Float Coat: strategically placed PVC-free buoyancy cells that support dogs in a natural horizontal swimming position, allowing them to go farther, longer, with less fatigue.
Intended Uses: kayaking, rafting, boating, surfing, paddle boarding
Features include: abrasion-resistant ballistic nylon withstands extended use; contoured neck straps for superior comfort and fit; heavily reinforced, low-profile assistance handle makes it easy to lift dog out of the water; * 3M™ Scotchlite™ reflective trim for enhanced visibility.
Experience:
My style of kayaking fits more with the intended use of the Portage. The life jacket that Tucker has is last year’s model of the Portage. The colors and the trim are different this year. The buoyancy cells and the fit are the same. One definite improvement was the addition of keepers for the adjustment straps. There were always long tails on the straps to deal with on the old model. (And remember, Tucker doesn’t do “tails”.)
Bottom Line:
Both Tucker and I feel safer when wearing our life jackets.
