The Ruff Wear r Approach Pack
This is an everyday dog pack designed for excellent performance, fit, and functionality. It excels on
workout walks, hikes and outdoor treks with your dog. (Suitable for one-hour walks to three-day hikes.)
Also, useful for training and exercise to give your dog a load to carry and “a job to do”.
***Many people ask what I do with the hand weights when I'm doing the "walk" portion of
The Workout Walk with The Sensible Dog. With The Ruff Wear Approach Dog Pack,
it's Tucker's “job” to carry the weights.
(Remember a healthy mature dog can carry a load equal to 20 - 25% of its body weight.
So Tucker, at 48 pounds, can easily carry the two 2.5 or 3 pound weights that I use.)
FEATURES of the Ruff Wear Approach Dog Pack:
* The Approach Pack is based on the same frame as the Ruff Wear Web Master Harness, to ensure good structure, stability, and load dispersion. That also means it has a five-point adjustable fit (to accommodate dogs of all sizes and shapes),the lifting handle (so you can help your dog over an obstacle), fur-friendly jersey nylon lining (non-chaffing during extended wear), and fleece padded belly straps.
* The permanently attached saddlebags are lightweight, with a streamlined, “go-fast” shape. The
weight-forward saddlebag design provides the ideal load-carrying position.
* The Approach Pack has details like waterproof zippers, high-visibility reflective
trim, 5 external gear loops on each side, double stitching, and durable construction.
PERFORMANCE of the Ruff Wear Approach Dog Pack:
* I was first impressed by the durability of this pack.
(Ruff Wear items can stand up to - well, rough wear!)
* Then, I was impressed with how adjustable it is. I had gotten Tucker a small, but when I first was trying it on him I wasn’t sure that it would fit. The 5-point fit really made it possible to get a perfect fit. (There is a sizing chart on the website.)
(Also, remember that the pack should have an all-around snug fit for a stable load, to prevent shifting of the saddlebags. Be sure that each saddlebag has an equal and balanced load.)
* Once the pack was fitted to Tucker, I was impressed with how easy it was to put on him - (over his head, pick up one paw, then just two snaps).
* I was a little disappointed at first that it doesn’t come in red this year, since red is Tucker’s favorite color. (OK, so it’s really my favorite color.) As it turns out it is kind of nice having it in green, so I can find it easily on the shelf, among all the other red “things”. And it coordinates nicely, with items like the green just-a-cinch leash. (And yes, coordinating colors are important!!)
Bottom Line:
Tucker really gets excited when I get out his Approach Pack.
Rating:
Excellent.
