A Hands Free Leash is one where the dog is attached you by a belt or anything else other than a traditional leash that you hold in one hand.
There are many situations where being "hands free" is beneficial.
1 - Whether walking, jogging, or running with your dog, with a hands free leash your arm swing can be natural and balanced. One shoulder will not be jarred by the sudden pull of your dog, as it might on a traditional dog leash.
2 - You can easily push a baby stroller or hold the hand of a child without the worry of getting tangled up in a traditional dog leash.
3 - Even many wilderness areas now require that a dog be kept on a leash. You won't have to worry about being pulled off balance by the sudden pull of your dog.
4- A hands free leash can be helpful in training your puppy. You will be able to work with your for signaling your puppy without worry about waving a traditional leash at them. It can help a puppy learn to just stay close. Your vet or trainer can give you other helpful tips. When I was training Tucker with a clicker and treats, I already had my hands full - in more ways than one.
