Temporary Tags
When traveling with your dog, the last thing you want to have happen is to become separated from him. But you can take a few actions before leaving home to help insure that your and your dog will be reunited as quickly as possible.
You can have a special ID tag or tags made to be worn on his collar along with his other identification. These tags are inexpensive and can be found at many places. If you are staying a one location, put that information on the tag. Include the dates that you will be there.
If you will be staying at parks or campgrounds, put “Contact Park Ranger or Campground Manager” on the tag. When you register at the park or campground, include information about your dog on the registration form. If you and your dog do become separated, contact the ranger or manager right away. (Remember, as a courtesy, to also let them know when you have found your dog.)
Another tag can have information about the vehicle you are driving. Include make, model , license plate, and anything distinctive about your vehicle. When traveling, I usually have my red and white kayak on top. That makes my white Subaru Outback very easy to spot.
Obviously, we hope that these tags are never necessary. However, these temporary ID tags might be just a small price to pay for some extra peace of mind.
